The Young Adult Literacy Program (YALP) is a partnership with the Mayor’s Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) and the Department of Youth and Community Development serving vulnerable youth who lack the literacy and/or math skills needed to enroll in a Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) Preparation Program. Participants in YALP receive pre-GED basic skills training along with extensive individualized social support services based on an individualized service plan. YALP aims to engage and empower young people to take control of their education and broaden their opportunities.
• Youth between the ages of 16-24
• NYS Identification or a Birth Certificate
Students with an 80% average attendance rate may be eligible to participate in the paid internship component of the program. Other performance-based incentives may be received based on participation
