For more than 40 years, United Activities Unlimited (UAU) has been dedicated to providing educational, recreational, counseling, and social programs throughout Staten Island. We have a borough wide network of community centers, after-school programs, prevention programs, social services and workforce development initiatives. Our mission is to provide comprehensive holistic services to individuals of all ages to improve academic achievement, economic opportunity, individual and family outcomes and general well-being. UAU is committed to serving as a resource for families by providing supportive services directly and through partnerships.
UAU is in need of two Outreach and Retention Specialists. These positions will be under the direct supervision of the Senior Case Manager and Program Director and will be responsible for empowering non-custodial fathers to establish positive, healthy, supportive relationships with their child/ren through parenting skills development, employment and education, visitation and placement, and support in areas of co-parenting and financial child support. The Outreach and Retention Specialist is responsible for complying with all UAU policies and standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* In collaboration with Program Director and Senior Case Manager, develop and implement outreach plan to recruit and retain program participants through a variety of forms of outreach.
* Assist with the development and growth of relationships with CBO partners. Collaborate with CBO partners on community outreach efforts and outings.
* Actively participates in the recruitment of non-custodial and custodial fathers in the program.
* Refer participants to other DYCD-funded programs as needed and coordinate community resources for unmet needs of participants.
* Provides support and advocacy to participants.
* Address crowds of varying sizes and offer program presentations.
* Assists team members in the delivery of daily services, including providing positive modeling, peer counseling, support and encouragement to participants.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or greater.
* Bilingual Spanish.
* Must be able to work flexible hours including evening and weekend hours.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Must be culturally competent with the ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures.
* Obtain and maintain all security clearance requirements throughout duration of employment.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* 1 + year experience working with target population
* 2 + year non-profit professional experience
* Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $48,000.00 /year
