Learn & Earn Program

UAU’s Learn & Earn Program provides year-round work readiness, college readiness, leadership development, basic life skills, and employment opportunities for high school juniors and seniors. Through interactive workshops, program activities, guest speakers, professional panels, and an additional year of wraparound services, the participants are equipped with the skills necessary to navigate the path to graduation and build a foundation for a successful transition into post-secondary education and adulthood. Through after school programming focused on financial literacy, academic counseling, career exploration, and college application assistance, participants will the necessary tools to begin their career as young professionals. In addition, the participants have the opportunity to receive a sixteen week winter internship and a six-week paid internship during the summer in a field that will help them strengthen their ability to become self-sufficient, teach them hands on job skills training that will benefit them in various life settings, as well as allowing them to see themselves as respected and successful members of the community with strong goals for their future.

  • Financial Literacy, Savings, Budgeting, & Investing
  • Career Exploration
  • College Application & Financial Aid Assistance
  • Time Management, Study Skills, Critical Thinking, and Conflict Resolution Skills
  • Service Learning, Civic Engagement, and Community Service Opportunities

AM I ELIGIBLE?

A.  Attending or enrolled in the Junior or Senior Year of High School

B.  Low-Income, AND 

C.   At least one of the following apply

  1. Deficient in Basic Literacy Skills; or 
  2. Homeless, Runaway; or
  3. In foster care or aged out of foster care; or
  4. Pregnant/Parenting; or
  5. Offender; or
  6. Has a disability; or
  7. An English language learner who is deficient in Basic Literacy Skills
