Train and Earn Program

United Activities Unlimited, Inc.’s CDL Class B License Occupational Skills Training Program is a dynamic, cohort-based training opportunity designed to provide a comprehensive pathway to employment for out-of-work, out-of-school individuals, between the ages of 18-24 (referrals will be made for participants 16-17 who do not qualify for the program) equipping them with the skills, real-world experience, and confidence to launch a successful career in the commercial driving industry. Train & Earn combines hands-on training for the CDL Class B license with a structured internship, allowing participants to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in a supportive, peer-driven environment. By combining structured training with real-world application, the program ensures that participants are fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the workforce. The cohort model offers an inclusive, supportive environment where participants can build new skills, gain industry-recognized credentials, and transition into stable, well-paying jobs in the transportation sector.

The program begins with classroom-based instruction, where participants learn the theoretical aspects of commercial driving, including traffic laws, safety protocols, vehicle maintenance, and regulatory requirements. Once participants have acquired foundational knowledge, they move on to hands-on training, where they practice operating vehicles in a controlled environment. This includes pre-trip inspections, basic maneuvers, and mastering driving skills needed for the CDL Class B test. Participants receive comprehensive preparation to pass the CDL Class B exam, ensuring they are fully ready to take the test and secure their commercial driver’s license.

Participants are placed in paid internships with local businesses or transportation companies. During the internship, they apply what they’ve learned in real-world scenarios under the supervision of experienced professionals. Participants are paired with mentors in the workplace who provide hands-on training, feedback, and career advice. This allows participants to refine their skills, build confidence, and understand the day-to-day responsibilities of commercial drivers. The internship also helps participants develop essential soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork, all of which are crucial for long-term career success in the transportation industry.
Upon completing the CDL Class B license and internship, participants receive job placement assistance. This includes resume building, interview coaching, and access to a network of employers looking for qualified drivers. Participants will earn a CDL Class B license, a valuable credential that opens doors to a variety of careers in commercial driving, including delivery services, public transportation, and logistics.
